Cat Trapped On Fifth Floor Of Burning Building Leaps Out Of Window

We often say that cats are curious, but we’re really the ones who should be curious about them. Often deemed as a creature with nine lives, there is a reason why cats are given this weird title.

A fire broke out in an apartment building.

An apartment building in Lowe Avenue, 65th Street, Chicago was burning starting on the fifth floor. Firefighters had yet to discover what the cause is as they rush in to put out the flames. Meanwhile, someone took a video of the burning building from outside. While smoke and burnt debris were coming out from the building, the camera unexpectedly caught something unbelievable.

A cat suddenly comes out from nowhere.

Surely, our attention is solely focused on the falling debris as well as the random sparks happening on the fifth floor of the building. However, as seconds pass, we fail to notice the odd black shape falling at a very high speed. Apparently, it was a black cat that jumped down from the burning 5th floor.

People can’t help but exclaim after noticing the cat jumping from such a great height. Even you’d be caught up in the moment even if you were behind the screen watching this video.

However, the cat landed on the grass safely and only bounced a little. After the unbelievable landing, the cat walked away as if nothing happened. Well, they say cats have nine lives, so maybe this one used one of his to survive a fall from a 5-story height

Ever wonder how cats do it? If we view this from a physics standpoint, then how they survive a fall from a tall building depends on two things: air resistance and apparent weight. Cats are natural tree dwellers, and that means nature has prepared them to handle falls.

Even when you hold them upside down and release them, they have their own way of propelling or twisting their feet, called their righting reflex, which makes them end up landing on their feet.

However, it’s not like cats could almost always survive a fall from a height.

Although, we couldn’t deny the fact that they could survive almost at a 95% rate whereas humans could only do for 5%. In fact, researchers use the term high-rise syndrome to explain the minimal height of cats 

surviving a fall from high-rise buildings.

Their data shows that cats falling between five and nine stories are most likely to get injured. The big twist is that they have greater chances of survival falling from an even higher height.

These kinds of stories are more common than we think.
